Fitness Facilities on Campus

Here’s a list of the exercise facilities available at the colleges of DCCCD. Please note that hours and availability are subject to change.

Bring your student ID and a towel. You’ll need appropriate swimming attire to use the college pools.

Brookhaven College

BHC’s Fitness Lab (weight room) is open to all credit students at no charge:

  • Monday-Thursday, 3 p.m.-5:20 p.m.
  • Friday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

The gym is usually open:

  • Monday and Wednesday, 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m.
  • Friday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

However, please note that it may be closed for events, including volleyball or basketball games, testing, meetings or other college functions. A weekly list of closings is posted in the equipment room where students check in, but the gym may be closed without advance notice.

BHC has a jogging trail marked for either a 1.5-mile or 2-mile run or walk.

Tennis courts, available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis, can be used every day but Friday mornings, when classes are held.

Cedar Valley College

CVC’s weight room is open to all credit students at no charge:

  • Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Tennis courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis, also at no charge.

Eastfield College

EFC’s fitness center is open free of charge to credit students, faculty and staff with an Eastfield ID:

  • Monday-Thursday, 2:30-5:30 p.m.
  • Friday, 2-4:30 p.m.

The outdoor pool (which is kept at 88 degrees!) is open Monday-Friday, from noon-4:30 p.m. (A lifeguard is on duty then.)

The soft-surface, outdoor jogging trail is a mile long, marked off in quarter-mile increments. It's open dawn to dusk.

Outdoor basketball, racquetball and tennis courts are also open, and students can check out golf clubs and use the golf green to play a round.

El Centro College

El Centro’s Physical Fitness Lab, Aerobic Super Circuit and gymnasium (located in C-220) are available to all enrolled students at no charge. Bring your valid student ID. Workout hours vary by semester. Visit the Student Life Office, 214-860-2137, Room B-270, for current availability and procedures.

Mountain View College

MVC has two weight rooms that offer open hours. Hours vary by semester; these are posted on the entrances to the weight rooms:

  • One weight room is generally open 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Thursday.
  • The other weight room, E-122, is used to teach classes and has limited open hours; currently it’s open Monday-Friday.

Mountain View’s “big gym” open hours are posted on the gym door on a semester-by-semester basis. The gym will be closed for college events, including volleyball and basketball games, practices, class meetings and other college functions.

Tennis courts can be used on a first-come, first-served basis. MVC also has a new mile jogging trail, complete with outdoor fitness stations.

The college will open a fitness center in Spring 2010. This center will be open to staff, students and the community. A membership fee will be required.

North Lake College

North Lake’s fitness center is free during open hours to students taking P.E. classes. For other students, the fee is $45 for three months.

Fitness center hours are:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday, 4 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

NLC’s tennis courts and pool are open to all credit students, free of charge, when class is not in session. You can also use the jogging trail and the two small outdoor basketball courts.

Richland College

Students taking credit P.E. classes may use Richland’s Fitness Center free of charge. Students not currently taking P.E. classes can sign up to use the Fitness Center for $20 a month. For detailed information, including hours of operation, visit the Richland Fitness Center Web page.

Tennis courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis when classes are not in session; there’s no charge for credit students with an ID.

The gym is open on a limited basis for free play, although the busy fall schedule means there aren’t many open hours.

Richland also has a soft-surface, outdoor jogging trail that is 3/4 mile long, marked off in 1/8-mile increments. A one-mile circuit uses some of the sidewalks on campus in conjunction with the soft-surface track.
